Minigame Review #1: Murder Mystery

Image
A very popular minigame, Murder mystery is a quick game on Hypixel server, and is one of the most popular games on Hypixel as of May 2017, and is still a prototype! Murder mystery has great rules, great roles, and beautiful maps built by the skilled Hypixel builders. At the beginning of each game, you get assigned a role: You are either the Murderer, the Detective, or an Innocent. There are 14 innocents, but only one murderer, and only one detective. If you're the murderer, your goal is to kill every innocent in five minutes. You have a sword that can be thrown, and no one knows you are the murderer unless they see your sword, or you're obvious about it, so stay sneaky! If you're one of the many innocents, stay alive as long as you can, and avoid dying at the hands of the murderer (or falling off a ledge). Try to collect gold, because if you get 10 you have one bow shot! Warning: If you shoot the detective or a fellow innocent you both die! If you...

MiniBuild #4: Quartz Throne

Image
Quartz thrones are fancy thrones, that give off the vibe of a  'Wealthy Duke,' instead of the 'Medieval Emperor' vibes you get from the Stone brick throne. This quartz throne design, like many other thrones, has a gem in its centre. I used emerald, but you could also use gold, diamond, or lapas.  Requires: Block of quartz, Pillar quartz block, Quartz stairs, Quartz slab, Purple (or any colour) carpet, Block of emerald. Step One: Build two pillars made of a Chiseled quartz block, and a Quartz pillar block. Put an upside down quartz stairs block in between. Step Two: Behind your two pillars, build  a triangle of blocks  made up of two Quartz pillar blocks and two Quartz blocks. Step Three: Place two carpet blocks in a line, and build a two block high stack of Chiseled quartz blocks at the back of your throne.  Step Four: Time to build your backrests and armrests! First build one two block tall Pillar quartz sta...

Mini Build #3: Stone Brick Throne

Image
The Throne is a great touch to your mighty palace, and gives you a seat to dine on. Thrones, unlike some other builds, are not very practical for survival, but allow you to take a seat like a King or Queen.  Requires: Stone brick slab, Stone Brick, Stone brick stairs, Chiseled stone brick, Carpet (Any colour). Step One: Place a three block wide carpet that will lead to your throne. Step Two: Place two walls of Chiseled stone bricks facing each other, that are 3 by 3. Step Three: Trim one layer into your carpet. Place stairs there, then build Stone bricks on the inside of your two walls, going in two blocks. Step Four: Place down more Stone brick blocks on top of your pre-existing bricks, then place two stairs on your new layer of Stone bricks. Step Five: Fill in the back of your throne with Stone brick, and add stone bricks behind your stairs. Wow, that's a lot of Stone brick! Ste...

Mini Build #2: Night Lamp

Image
A night lamp is an outside lamp that will only light up when it's dark outside. Don't worry, this build requires little to no redstone experience, but contains a daylight sensor, which is tough to get in Survival mode. These lamps are not only very useful, but are also very fashionable.  Requires:   Redstone lamp, Stone bricks, Stone brick stairs, Daylight sensor. Step One: Begin your lamp by making a three block tall stone pillar. Step Two: Go below your build on an angle, to place upside down Stone stair blocks, making a nice ledge for your lamp to sit on. Step Three: Place lamps on your pillar like so. Step Four: Place a Daylight sensor in the middle of the four lamps. If it is light out, the lamps will light up. Step Five: Place Stone stair blocks on top of your four lamps. This will improve the look of your lamp.  Step Six: Right click the daylight sensor. This will...

Mini Build #1: Fountain

Image
A fountain is a great touch to a medieval courtyard, and lets your villagers all bathe in peace. An easy and simple build that makes a big difference. Requires: Stone brick, Chiseled stone brick, Water bucket. Step One: Build four stone blocks, all connected diagonally. Step Two: Now, connect more stone blocks to make a square. Step Three: Build a two block tall pillar made of chiseled stone bricks. Step Four: Replace the dirt on the base of the fountain with stone brick. Step Five: Now it's time to place a bucket of water on the top of the chiseled stone brick pillar.  Now you're done! There are still more things you could add if you want more detail, like fences or cobble stone walls to spice up the rim of the fountain. If you want to improve the lighting, you could always place down sea lanterns, but they could contrast with the medieval style. From here on, it's up to you!
