Minigame Review #6: Showdown

The fifth installment to the Murder Mystery lobby in Hypixel, Showdown, is a team death-match style game where the Sheriffs battle the Outlaws in an epic two sided shoot-out. The differences between Showdown and a standard team death-match is that bows and swords one-hit kill players (like all Murder Mystery games) and players respawn. The first team to score thirty kills wins.

 Another factor to Showdown is that it uses the Murder Mystery maps, which makes it extra fun since fans already know where the best hiding spots are. You can also collect gold off the ground, and use it to activate the in-game special items: the trapdoor in Towerfall, the stun-gun in Hollywood, the Roller coasters in Hypixel World, etc.

1. Mountain
A new map that came as a package with Showdown, Mountain is great for Showdown because it has two clear sides. It also has ski lifts that are hilarious to use, and a market area behind one of the cottages.

 2. Transport
A great map that was introduced to Murder Mystery early on, Transport is set in a cargo spaceship. It's fun because it's like a maze, has good sniper spots, and has 'shield spawners' that you can place for a temporary hiding spot.

 3. Headquarters
What feels more like a movie than a shoot out in an office building?! Showdown in this map is intense, but very fun. Dive into cubicles to avoid the streams of arrows coming at you from all angles, and shoot through windows (which works!) to hit players when they're in a different room.

The brand-new map that was released with Showdown, Mountain is very interesting and detailed.

Guilds are a great addition to Hypixel, and there are many cool things you can do with them. They are pretty much a clan of players, brought together by one leader. Together you work as a team to earn guild coins (get these from winning games) and with them you can upgrade your guild's size, get your players guild tags, and make room for more officers (second in-command). The more in your guild, the merrier! You can only create guilds if you have VIP+ or higher, but that doesn't mean you can't join them if you don't have that rank! MiniBuild #4: Quartz Throne

Quartz thrones are fancy thrones, that give off the vibe of a  'Wealthy Duke,' instead of the 'Medieval Emperor' vibes you get from the Stone brick throne. This quartz throne design, like many other thrones, has a gem in its centre. I used emerald, but you could also use gold, diamond, or lapas.  Requires: Block of quartz, Pillar quartz block, Quartz stairs, Quartz slab, Purple (or any colour) carpet, Block of emerald. Step One: Build two pillars made of a Chiseled quartz block, and a Quartz pillar block. Put an upside down quartz stairs block in between. Step Two: Behind your two pillars, build  a triangle of blocks  made up of two Quartz pillar blocks and two Quartz blocks. A very popular minigame, Murder mystery is a quick game on Hypixel server, and is one of the most popular games on Hypixel as of May 2017, and is still a prototype! Murder mystery has great rules, great roles, and beautiful maps built by the skilled Hypixel builders. At the beginning of each game, you get assigned a role: You are either the Murderer, the Detective, or an Innocent. There are 14 innocents, but only one murderer, and only one detective. If you're the murderer, your goal is to kill every innocent in five minutes. You have a sword that can be thrown, and no one knows you are the murderer unless they see your sword, or you're obvious about it, so stay sneaky!
