One Year Anniversary

Image
Happy Birthday, blog! It's been one year since this blog popped up on the internet, along with it's two posts, 'Welcome to The Blog', and 'Mini build #1: Fountain'. Ever since the blog has been expanding steadily, with new builds, guides, and mini game reviews for Hypixel, Cubecraft, and Mineplex games. One year later, not much has changed. I still really enjoy playing Murder Mystery , thanks to its updates with new maps, modes, and secrets (such as the one in Gold Rush that unlocks the secret achievement, 'We're All Set'). And after all this time, Hypixel players are still playing fun games like Skywars and Bed Wars.  But at the same time, it seems that a lot has changed. There are now five Hypixel Prototype games, such as 'The Pit', 'Battle Royale' and Zombies. Build Battle has become a full game, and so has Bed Wars, Murder Mystery and Duels. Mineplex has also had a huge update in the last year, changing their lobby aro...

Minigame Review #8: Zombies

Image
A prototype game, Zombies is a team survival game were four players work together to fight the seemingly endless (or endless if you put the game to infinity mode) waves of zombies that just keep on coming. Zombies has been in the prototype lobby for a while, and has two maps: Bad Blood, a haunted mansion (my personal favorite) and the original map: Dead End, a dark alleyway. the goal is to survive until the end, which is something under an eighth of zombie players ever do.  Even on the easiest level (normal, the easiest of normal, hard and nightmare), this game is very difficult, unlike many modern video games. In the game, you have a gun (represented by a wooden hoe). The number next to the gun in your hot bar is the amount of ammunition in your cartridge, and your total amount of ammunition is displayed on your exp bar. The zombies come in through barricades in the wall that they break down. If you shoot any zombie enough it dies, but some have more health ...

Hypixel Guide #1: Guilds

Image
Guilds are a great addition to Hypixel, and there are many cool things you can do with them. They are pretty much a clan of players, brought together by one leader. Together you work as a team to earn guild coins (get these from winning games) and with them you can upgrade your guild's size, get your players guild tags, and make room for more officers (second in-command). The more in your guild, the merrier! You can only create guilds if you have VIP+ or higher, but that doesn't mean you can't join them if you don't have that rank! Type in the command  /guild join [guild's name]  to request to join that guild. Some guilds have it so players automatically join when they do this. For some guilds, a member has to accept your request for you to join. Officers or the leader of a guild can also send 'guildless' players an invite to their guild. Commands /guild join [guild name] Sends a request to join the guild, which appears on the guild's c...

Minigame Review #7: The Pit

Image
The Pit is the first-ever Hypixel infinite PVP game, and it struck the prototype lobby hard when it was released in late February of 2017. The goal is to kill other players, and survive in the interesting map divided into four sectors (one made of sky islands, one volcanic, one a mountain, and the final one is a waterfall zone), along with the center, which is often one of the busiest areas. When you join a Pit game, you start inside a huge tree in the center of the map. You can drop down into the middle of the arena, or get launched to one of the four corners. The tree spans the whole map, its roots act as the boundaries between each sector. When you get a kill or assist (or sometimes just for participation) you will gain gold and exp. After you gain a certain amount of exp, you level up! As for the gold, you can use it to buy perks and items. If you reach level 120, you can 'Prestige' for 10K gold. That resets your exp and puts the Roman numeral one next to your ...

Minigame Review #6: Showdown

Image
The fifth installment to the Murder Mystery lobby in Hypixel, Showdown, is a team death-match style game where the Sheriffs battle the Outlaws in an epic two sided shoot-out. The differences between Showdown and a standard team death-match is that bows and swords one-hit kill players (like all Murder Mystery games) and players respawn. The first team to score thirty kills wins. Another factor to Showdown is that it uses the Murder Mystery maps, which makes it extra fun since fans already know where the best hiding spots are. You can also collect gold off the ground, and use it to activate the in-game special items: the trapdoor in Towerfall, the stun-gun in Hollywood, the Roller coasters in Hypixel World, etc. Best 3 Maps for Showdown 1. Mountain A new map that came as a package with Showdown, Mountain is great for Showdown because it has two clear sides. It also has ski lifts that are hilarious to use, and a market area behind one of the cottages. 2. Tr...

Minigame Review #5: BedWars

Image
One of the more recent Hypixel games, BedWars is possibly the greatest. With special loot chests, coins, cosmetics, modes, maps, and stats, it is one of the most detailed minigames out there. Hypixel was quite possibly inspired by EggWars (a game on the CubeCraft server) when they created this game, but they made it completely  different . With simple maps, easy rules, and long matches, BedWars is a great game for both pros and noobs. The basic rules are: If you die, you respawn unless your bed is broken. Defend that bed with your life! When I say that, I'm not kidding. It is worth dying (in-game of course) to defend your bed, because without it, it's a struggle to stay in the game. Try to destroy other player's beds so they can't respawn, and will hopefully get eliminated later. Unlike EggWars, there's only one generator on your island. It spews out iron and gold, which you can use to buy items. Resources in BedWars (Iron, Gold, Emerald, Diamond) are ...
